Not a normal post

I didn't make it to the range today because traffic was bad. So I picked a card up for mom for Mommy's Day (it's this Sunday, if you forgot), then I went home and messed around on the internet for a bit. I had a little time to do some thinking (doesn't happen very often), and I was thinking about all my friends in KS. Then I got really sad (you know, the kind of sad you feel where if you kept on going with those kinds of thoughts you could cry). I realized that as much as I love living out here and as awesome as my friends in DC are, I still miss all my friends that are still stuck in the Kansas Rectangle. I really miss game nights at Grandma's, all day bike rides with 2fers at Pizza Shuttle with Tim, biking on the river trail, shooting pool until 2:00 in the morning, starting movies at 11:00 at night at Ryan's house on his huge tv and kick @$$ sound system, late night bike rides, and yes, I even miss Seaton Hall, where I spent way too much of my time while I was at K-State.

It's been almost 2 years since I moved 1200 miles away from everybody, and I've met some awesome people in that amount of time, found an amazing church, and have really started to think of this as home now. But I still miss everybody I left behind. I've been fortunate to be able to make it back to the Little Apple so much, but it's not enough to really maintain the relationships I have with everyone there.

In short, growing up sucks. If you have a chance to stay in school, take it! Put off getting to the "real world" as long as possible. And if you have to move to far off lands, make sure you take the time to keep in touch with all your friends. They're the ones who help you up when you fall down, and share the good times with you. So for all of you still in KS, or spread out around the country, I love you, and miss you a lot. I wish we could hang out more often, but if you're ever in DC or the surrounding areas, let me know, because I'd love to see you! And for the very few of you who live in DC and have randomly found this, I love you guys too. I thank God for blessing me with your friendship. I really couldn't make it out here without you. :) Thanks!

Awww....
And ouch on the "Kansas Rectangle" article. I happen to like it here!
I can't believe it's been two years already since you graduated. Does NOT seem like that long ago.

Wow...you really did stray from the normal "Sam" writing...but it's always good to do things our of the norm. And let people in to your world, if only for a few paragraphs!
